Lottie watched him sit back some, as though his first reaction of annoyance had eased off. At this, she relaxed, as well, her usual friendly demeanor quickly returning to her, as excitable and happy as ever. She offered a sweet smile as she twirled the metal strap of her handbag about in her fingers, the decorative ring she was wearing making soft ‘ping’ sounds as it collided with the purse’s chain.
She eyed him eminently as he twirled his pen, then rested his elbow on his desk, and it was only barely evident that he was as curious of her as she was of him. His accent was obviously English, but that really didn’t tell her much about him as a person. “My name’s Charlotte, Charlotte La Bouff.” She grinned happily, glad that she’d been given the opportunity to introduce herself. Perhaps this boy even knew of her father. “But, please, cahll me Lottie~…”
“Wha’s yer name, sweet pea~♥?”
Her bubbly personality radiated from her like a certain someone else he knew, and it made Ciel wonder what could make her that happy. People like Lizzie were quite hard to come by, there were very few willing to mask their pain with utter happiness. His eye fixed on the ring she was wearing. So, this one might have had money after all. He looked over the rest of her attire, then returned to her face. She wasn’t wearing anything a noble in England would, and it only increased his suspicion of where she was from.
“La Bouff,” he repeated, then thought a moment. He knew that name from somewhere– Ah. “What relation do you have to Eli La Bouff?” Any man with enough money is known nowadays.
It explained a lot. The clothes, the accent. They could only be from America. Ciel’s everlasting frown stayed put on his features as he spoke, which would turn most people away in minutes. But he had no reason to smile. Not now, or ever again.
“I am Ciel Phantomhive,” he answered, then added, “Owner of the Funtom Company.” If she was among the La Bouff’s, she might know of his company. There were a few factories placed in the America’s, and they always attracted a good amount of profit.
“Zero Kiryuu.” And now the kid seemed irritated…not that Zero cared about it.
