kusuriurimononoke:

The strange man stared down at the young boy, violet-blue eye fixed on the other. And like that he stood for several moments, as though time had frozen, despite the breeze ruffling the blue silk of his kimono.

There was no reply for almost a minute after Ciel had asked the question. Only more staring. Then, slowly the man began to speak.

“I am only… a simple… medicine seller…”
And with that he got down on his knees and bowed politely to the boy.
“May I be… of service…?”

The silence was eerie. Ciel found himself catching his breath to not rattle the silence even a little, confused by this figure’s actions. Could it be that his suspicious was true? Or was it paranoia striking him again? After waiting another few moments, Ciel lost his patience waiting for an answer and was about to make a rude remark but it was caught in his throat once he heard the man speak. How strange…

“A medicine seller? From where?” he asked, as the man got down on his knees. People in England never bowed to another unless it was formal, and even then at most it was a head-nod or a curtsy. “What are you bloody doing?!” The tone of his voice was annoyed now. The only man who’s ever bowed to him like that was Sebastian, but even he didn’t get down on both knees like a slave. Funny, though, because the demon certainly was one. “Who are you?”
