
Elizabeth stayed still as this seeming clone of hers walked backward in a defensive manner, as if they were trying to hide something. But what? She startled and hurried forward as this person stumbled over themselves and fell, and that’s when she heard the momentary slip in voice tone, one she knew as well as anything else about it. She didn’t know many people that would swear, and not like that either.
Her voice was small, hoping she’d just made a mistake and her mind was playing tricks on her.
