She shrugged, a smirk on her lips. She was an open book to him it seemed. “I’d rather not take credit for such actions. As you well know, or can assume, I’m hardly proud of them.”

Her gaze returned to him, as she tilted her head. “In fact, running from my past would be the saving grace I so desperately need.  I’m not proud of anything I’ve done.” Emerald eyes glittered with hints of bitterness, and playfulness. Her gaze was locked onto him, even as she closed her eyes to the world once more. “I’ve done a lot of things people would condemn me for. Stolen from people I thought likely wouldn’t notice. I’ve been charged with murder. Police are well aware of me. I’ve caused myself, and others, a lot of pain.” A gentle sigh escaped her lips.

According to police records…I’ve even killed my own child. That might have been cleared, but regardless….

Regardless…they’ll believe what they wish. Nothing will change that.

“The one thing I don’t regret…the one thing I’m proud of…is surviving against all odds. And not to be a tease but I suppose one could contribute my luck, if you can even call it that, to be in direct relation to the number of lives a cat’s assumed to have. Two out of the Nine are lost. I’m on my third now.” A smile spread across her face then. As she opened her eyes, and her gentle gaze returned his way.

“But we all have regrets…don’t we?”

Ciel allowed the cat woman to talk, barely interested in her words. He in no way thought that she would be useful to him, rather than getting him sick if he wanted to be. It was fitting though. For a cat to be a thief. They were sly, curious, and reckless creatures. No wonder his butler was fond of them.

Though her last statement caught his attention.

“To waste time holding onto regret is nonsensical. You should never regret what you’ve done. That only holds you back,” the boy knew all this from experience. He didn’t regret much of anything now. Not even selling his soul and destroying any hope of having a future - in an instant. He thought about it. Curled up at night when nightmares woke him, it definitely crossed his mind. But it was always dismissed. It was too late to look back. Forward was the only option. Motivated by hate and lust for revenge - Ciel made himself unstoppable.
